Position details

  • Research Scientist
    • Faculty Research Scientist positions at Institute of Bioinformatics, Bangalore in collaboration with Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), Manipal.
    • Opening for following areas: Cancer Biology, Clinical Infection Biology, Bioinformatics.
    • Requirements: Applicants should possess a doctoral degree in biology, medicine, bioinformatics or a health-related field with a strong publication record. Candidates must have interest in obtaining external grant funding and be in receipt of faculty fellowships such as Ramalinga swami Re-entry Fellowship or Ramanujan Fellowship or be willing to apply for these fellowships, if selected.

  • Research Scientist Position
    • Research Scientist Position at Institute of Bioinformatics, Bangalore with a 2-Year Training Phase at Mayo Clinic, USA.
    • Required Qualifications:
      • Ph.D. in Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics or a related field
      • Strong experimental background in molecular biology, cell culture and in vivo cancer models
      • Strong track record of scientific productivity as evidenced by first authored publications in peer-reviewed journals
      • Very good communication and interpersonal skills
      • Knowledge in genomic and proteomic data analysis will be a major asset
    • Salary: The salary for the 2-year training phase in the USA will be commensurate with experience (minimum $44,000/year). Upon return to the Institute of Bioinformatics, the salary will be as per institutional norms in India for a Research Scientist (Faculty position).
  • Ph.D. Fellowships for Physician Scientist Training Program
    • Required Qualifications:
      • MBBS alone or with specialty training (e.g. DNB, MD degrees)
      • Strong interest in pursuing basic research
      • Candidates with prior research experience and publication record will be preferred
      • Candidate with specialization in pathology, microbiology or biochemistry will be given special consideration
      • Good communication and interpersonal skills
    • Salary: Candidates will receive Rs. 50,000/month or higher based on their qualifications/experience.
  • Ph.D. Studentships in Computational Biology
    • Requirement:
      • M.Sc/M.Tech in Bioinformatics/ Biotechnology
      • Experience in coding with Python and R
      • Experience in PHP or other web technologies and MySQL
      • Experience working in a Linux environment and be able to do shell scripting
      • Fair knowledge of statistics
      • Experience in NGS data analysis
      • Candidates who has secured fellowships from the State/Central Government agencies such as BINC, CSIR-UGC, DBT and DST-INSPIRE will be preferred.
